NSW: Man dies in Manly after pub crawl
SYDNEY, Dec 22 AAP - Witnesses and friends of a Canberra man are still being interviewedfollowing his death after a pub crawl on Sydney's northern beaches, police said today.
Police said the man, in his mid 20s, was believed to have died from head injuries aftervisiting several hotels in Manly.
Inspector Carl Clark from Manly police said officers were called to the beach frontarea near Raglan Street at North Steyne shortly before 2am (AEDT), where the man was foundface down on the footpath.
"The man was unconscious on their (police officers') arrival," he told journalists at Manly.
"He wasn't breathing, the ambulance was called, he was rushed to Manly Hospital, howeverhe died on arrival."
The man had been in the Manly area last night and drinking at a number of hotels, InspectorClark said.
Several licensed premises operate near the area where the dead man was found.
"We believe that something may have occurred outside at North Steyne and we would beappealing for witnesses for anything that did occur," he said.
"The man is in his mid 20s and was up from Canberra.
"We've had crime scene and fingerprint police out making examination of the scene."
He said inquiries were continuing with witnesses to the incident and members of thegroup he had been with last night being interviewed.
Insp Clark said the circumstances of the man's death were being treated as suspicious.
A post mortem is expected to be carried out today, with a report being prepared for the coroner
