Fed: Anderson welcomes Mobil compensation

MELBOURNE, Jan 18 AAP - Acting Prime Minister John Anderson today welcomed Mobil's
announcement of a $15 million hardship package for owners and pilots affected by the fuel
crisis.

Mobil Fuels marketing director Paul Wherry said there would be a $10,000 limit per
aircraft and independent auditors would oversee the $15 million scheme.

The fuel contamination crisis, described as the worst of its type in the world, has
grounded 5,000 light aircraft across Australia.

Mr Anderson said he had been briefed on Mobil's decision earlier today.
