Qld: Man allegedly takes dip in Brisbane River to avoid police

A man has jumped into the Brisbane River while attempting to avoid a random police breath test.

The 26-year-old motorcyclist from Gordon Park tried to make a watery escape after being
stopped on Kingsford Smith Drive in Brisbane's inner city suburb of Hamilton .. just before
5 o'clock this morning.

Police say the man attempted to flee police on his bike .. but when officers detained
him .. he broke free and jumped into the Brisbane River .. swimming to the other side.

He was later found in the suburb of Bulimba.

He'll appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday on 11 charges .. including
stealing and breach of bail.
